Are Back

I have been a fan of the 90's. I grew up looking at television shows like Living Single, The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Girlfriends, A Different World and In Living Color just to name a few, and to be I honest I still do...

I can remember coming home from school dropping my book bag in the middle of my room, changing into my pajamas, getting my different snacks ready for 8pm cause thats when all the shows started... Its pretty awesome that Ready To Stare is paying tribute to our childhood favorites and what better way to do this than fashion.

The more I look through the collection the more things I see and want...If you dare to be different and love trying new and exciting trends then I recommend Ready To Stare. CHECK OUT THE SITE THERE ARE MANY MORE PIECES TO EXPLORE...

The collection is sold at  https://www.etsy.com/shop/ReadyToStare and find out who her favorite 90's couple is...mine was Whitley and Dwayne.

Head Wrap - Fabric store
Lips - riri woo
Top - UO (mens department
Skirt - Asos curve
Rings - VidaKush
Sneakers - Converse

So, Im kind of mad that I didn't get an ass shot in this skirt but Oh well! I am in love with this skirt that I picked up from ASOS Curve, it's a new look piece and I can't seem to get enough of it. Today was super humid so I wanted to dress as light weight as possible, no hair on my neck, so I pulled it up into a turban. No dark top, so I got this tee from Urban Outfitters in the mens department 2 for $28 not a bad deal. My sneakers, I got from the village in a little shop paid next to nothing for it. This is an outfit that reminds me of walking in Harlem coming from the bodega busting around the corner to chill with mi papi...hahahahahaha hell the only thing I'm missing is some door knockers.

The Velvet Underground.

Top - Trash & Vaudeville
Leggings - Torrid
Shoes - PayLess
Watch - MK
Lips - M.A.C. RiRi Woo...AKA Ruby Woo

Do you love to try new things?
Do you love music?
Are you a fan of the late great Andy Warhol?
Well then you should listen to The Velvet Underground. I personally love this band some of my favorite songs are Pale Blue Eyes, RocknRoll and I'm waiting for the man. I found this top in of course (drumroll) Trash and Vaudeville; they have some really awesome vintage tees and every time I go back home I make sure I stock up. I wanted to give it a used vintage feel so I cut off the sleeves and added some tiny holes throughout the front of the shirt. I love the outcome.

Ok, my sister is amazing and here is why. I love love love this print and I asked and showed it to another person and they hated this print. Then I started to question myself "should I get it or should I walk away. Would it make a horrible shirt or can I turn this shit out." My sister saw the worry (YUP, the worry cause the struggle was real) doubt and huge question mark on my face. Yikes!!! She turned to me and said "Jo, if you like it get it. Remember nobody can see or understand your vision." So I bought the fabric and literally the following month all of the fabric was gone. So my sister taught me something that day, not to give a f@!k what others have to say or think and for that I am so grateful. And I love her so much...

Mixing it Up.

Top - Thrifted @ Goodwill
Dress - F21
Hat - NYC East Village
Shoes - Torrid
Watch - MK
Lips - MAC RiRi Woo

I love to experiment with colors, textures and patterns. One thing I don't believe is that everything has to be perfect as a matter of fact it doesn't. Mixing patterns is pretty awesome, because you can...
1) see how creative you can be
2) Be different and stand out
3) It just pretty fuxking awesome
4) IT'S GRUNGE
anyone who is into the grunge scene knows that plaid is super important; it goes along with anything and to complete you outfit you will either need a pair of combat boots or some worn out converses. "It's alternative".
I enjoy it and I hope you do too....try it out and get creative!!!
